Dhiraj Sahu :"Amit Malviya Slams Congress on IT Raids: 'Corruption Ki Dukaan'"
Updated: Dec 11, 2023
Malviya's statement followed the discovery of ₹300 crore in the locations associated with an Odisha-based liquor distillery group connected to MP Dhiraj Sahu.
On Saturday, Amit Malviya, the head of the Bharatiya Janata Party's National Information & Technology Department, criticized the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi in response to income tax raids at the residences of MP Dhiraj Sahu in Jharkhand, Bengal, and Odisha. In a post on X, Malviya stated, "Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra was actually a journey to connect the thieves of India. Congress is #CorruptionKiDukan (the hub of corruption). The recovery of nearly ₹300 crore from the premises of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu in Jharkhand is living proof of this."
In another post, he wrote, "Today, on International Corruption Day, coincidentally, it is also the birthday of the proprietor of #CorruptionKiDukan. Quite the coincidence!"
A few hours after the Income Tax (I-T) Department conducted raids, recovering ₹300 crore from the facilities of an Odisha-based liquor distillery group associated with Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu, Amit Malviya posted his remarks. The company, led by Dhiraj's son Ritesh Sahu as the managing director and elder brother Uday Shanker Prasad as chairman, specializes in manufacturing extra-neutral alcohol.
Several BJP leaders and Union ministers also criticized Sahu and the Congress party in response to the raids. Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed concern, stating, "Congress has to answer when one of its MPs has been raided. They need to tell who does this black money belong to? This is a worrisome matter."
In the meantime, BJP leader and Union minister Anurag Thakur remarked, "The biggest question is why does Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi always speak against demonetisation… wherever there is Congress, there is corruption… that is why the Congress keeps questioning the Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation."
The raids initiated on Wednesday in Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. Officials disclosed that Boudh Distillery Private Limited, a partnership firm of Baldeo Sahu & Group of Companies, is implicated in tax evasion.
