Australia emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against India in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2024, clinching the coveted trophy for the fourth time. The Australian team delivered an outstanding bowling performance, restricting India's batting lineup to secure a commanding 79-run win at South Africa's Sahaa Pak Willowmoore Stadium.

Mahli Beardman and Rafael Macmillan played pivotal roles in deflating the Indian batting lineup. Beardman, with his impressive figures of 3 wickets for 15 runs in 7 overs, and Macmillan, who claimed 3 wickets for 43 runs in his 10 overs, wreaked havoc on the Indian batsmen. Seamers Callum Vidler, Charlie Anderson, and Tom Straker also contributed to the team's success by taking 2 wickets, 1 wicket, and 1 wicket respectively.

India faced a target of 254 runs to win the match, but were only able to muster a few substantial performances with the bat. Adarsh Singh top-scored with a patient knock of 47 runs from 77 deliveries, while Murugan Perumal Abhishek contributed 42 runs off 46 balls and Musheer Khan scored 22 runs off 33 deliveries. Unfortunately, the rest of the Indian batting lineup struggled against the clinical Australian bowlers, with seven batters, including captain Uday Saharan, dismissed for single-digit scores.

Australia's victory march began with pacer Callum Vidler, who claimed the wicket of Indian opener Arshin Kulkarni by inducing an edge to wicketkeeper Ryan Hicks. Following that breakthrough, India failed to build any significant partnerships as key batsmen, including skipper Saharan, Musheer Khan, and Sachin Dhas, departed without making substantial contributions.

Beardman played a pivotal role in dismantling the Indian batting unit with his pace and bounce. He broke through Musheer Khan's defense with a delivery that kept low, and then tempted Saharan, the tournament's highest run-getter, with a slightly wide delivery, resulting in a catch to Hugh Weibgen at point. Beardman later claimed the wicket of opener Adarsh Singh, who was India's highest scorer on the day with a gritty innings of 47 runs from 77 balls.

Meanwhile, Macmillan showcased his spin bowling prowess and proved to be a difficult challenge for the Indian batsmen. He made an impact right from his first ball, dismissing Sachin Dhas with a routine catch to wicketkeeper Hicks. Macmillan's introduction in the 20th over proved to be a turning point as he further troubled the Indian batsmen. He accounted for the dismissals of Aravelly Avanish and Raj Limbani, preventing any late resurgence from the Indian team.

Australia had set a competitive target of 253 runs for India after opting to bat first. Oliver Peake played an enterprising innings, scoring 46 runs off just 43 balls, while Harjas Singh contributed a solid knock of 55 runs from 64 deliveries. The Australian team posted a total of 253 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

In response, India's bowlers attempted to restrict Australia's scoring, with Raj Limbani being the most successful Indian bowler. Limbani claimed three wickets for 38 runs, while Naman Tiwari picked up two wickets, conceding 63 runs in his nine overs.

Ultimately, Australia's exceptional bowling performance proved to be the decisive factor in their triumph over India in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2024. The Australian team showcased their skills and determination throughout the tournament, deserving their fourth title in this prestigious competition.
