The special branch of the Delhi Police has issued a warning to all police stations to stay alert and keep an eye on individuals linked to the 2020 Delhi riots and major protests like the anti-CAA/NRC demonstrations.

With recent events like the inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Temple, the Gyanvapi prayer order, and the Mathura Shahi Idgah issue, the police are on high alert to prevent communal unrest. The advisory, particularly ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, highlights concerns that certain individuals with ulterior motives may attempt to forcefully enter places of worship.

The advisory from Delhi Police urges increased caution to prevent communal violence, noting recent events and the risk of troublemakers targeting religious locations.

On February 7, a senior officer emphasized that the Delhi Police is actively working to uphold peace and law enforcement across the city, particularly in areas prone to communal tensions. The advisory highlights concerns that certain individuals may attempt to disrupt the peace. Police officers have been instructed to compile a list of individuals who could potentially incite trouble under the pretext of recent events, as per the advisory.

According to reports from HT, the officer mentioned that all police stations, districts, and specialized units have been instructed to compile a list of individuals who took part in the CAA/NRC demonstrations, the Shaheen Bagh sit-in protests, and the farmers' protests. Additionally, known members of certain groups will also be included in this list.

HT reported that the police officer highlighted the importance of updating existing lists of individuals of concern in police districts or units. The aim is to closely monitor their activities and movements to prevent any potential incidents of communal tension.

The officer revealed that the north-east district police has compiled a list of approximately 100 troublemakers. Additionally, officers in specific districts have been instructed to expand the list to include individuals who were involved in the communal riots that occurred in February 2020. Protesters who participated in demonstrations in areas like Jafarabad, Seelampur, and Yamuna Vihar just before the riots are also to be added to this list.

Delhi Police has implemented special measures to ensure the security of key religious sites, particularly those significant to the Hindu community. According to reports from HT, a second police officer stated that alongside increased physical presence, police checkpoints and barricades would be set up. Moreover, adequate security and traffic arrangements will be made around these religious locations and their access routes.

To enhance surveillance in mixed-population areas, drones will be utilized to monitor any large gatherings. Additionally, all demonstrations will be meticulously recorded through videography and photography.

The advisory emphasizes the deployment of sufficient personnel, especially during Friday prayers, at important and sensitive mosques throughout the city. The senior officer also mentioned the implementation of enhanced monitoring of various religious organizations.
