At the WPL auction in Mumbai on December 9, Punjab pacer Kashvee Gautam clinched a winning bid of ₹2 crore from Gujarat Giants. Despite her base price being ₹10 lakh, both Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz vied for Kashvee, with the former ultimately securing her services for the second edition of WPL.

In another significant deal, uncapped 22-year-old Karnataka batter Vrinda Dinesh received a generous bid of ₹1.3 crore from UP Warriorz. Both Vrinda and Kashvee had recently showcased their skills for India A in a three-match series against England A.

The initial stages of the auction witnessed Australian cricketers attracting top bids. All-rounder Annabel Sutherland moved to Delhi Capitals for ₹2 crore, while batter Phoebe Litchfield joined Gujarat Giants for ₹1 crore. Sutherland, aged 22, had been released by Gujarat Giants after the inaugural WPL edition in March but found a new home with Delhi Capitals after attracting interest from Mumbai Indians.

Gujarat Giants also secured the services of the left-handed 20-year-old Australian, Litchfield, who has made her debut across formats for Australia. Mumbai Indians added South Africa's fast bowler Shabnim Ismail to their squad for ₹1.20 crore, a significant three times her base price.

In the early stages of the auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore acquired Australia’s Georgia Wareham for ₹40 lakh. RCB also made strategic purchases, bringing in England’s Kate Cross for ₹30 lakh and 37-year-old Indian spinner Ekta Bisht for ₹60 lakh, doubling her base price.
