In the IPL 2024 auction, Chennai Super Kings successfully acquire Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell
IPL 2024 auction : Chennai Super Kings were unsuccessful in securing the signing of South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee. Mumbai Indians successfully acquired Coetzee for ₹5 crore.
Chennai Super Kings, the five-time IPL champions, made a determined effort to secure New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra during the auction in Dubai on December 19.
Chennai Super Kings made significant efforts to acquire the world-cup winning captain Pat Cummins, but Sunrisers Hyderabad secured the Australian captain for a substantial ₹20.50 crore.
However, Chennai Super Kings successfully secured the young New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra for ₹1.80 crore, surpassing his base price of ₹50 lakh, outbidding Punjab Kings in the process.
Later, Chennai Super Kings targeted Daryl Mitchell, despite facing fierce competition from Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. Although CSK entered the bidding late, they successfully signed Mitchell for a substantial amount of ₹14 crore.
Chennai Super Kings also bought Shardul Thakur for an amount of ₹3.60 crore. Shardul Thakur was released by Kolkata Knight Riders.
Chennai Super Kings lost the bid for signing South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee. Mumbai Indians bought Coetzee for ₹5 crore.
