New Road House Trailer 2024 Outdoor action film Gyllenhaal in Patrick Swayze role | Watch Now

New Road House Trailer 2024: Doug Liman's Adaptation of Cult Classic Set to Premiere on Prime Video in March

The iconic 1989 film "Road House," starring Patrick Swayze as a formidable "cooler" for a roadside bar, is undergoing a modern transformation. Jake Gyllenhaal steps into a similar role, this time guarding a bar along the scenic Florida coastline, promising a fresh take with familiar elements of intense fist-fighting and beer-drinking. The new trailer, showcased above, provides a glimpse into the action-packed scenes.

Hindi Trailer:

In this revamped version, Gyllenhaal portrays Elwood Dalton, hinting at a possible connection to the original Swayze character, perhaps as his son. Elwood, a former UFC fighter, takes on the role of a "cooler" for a bar located in the Florida Keys. The cast includes Jessica Williams, Daniela Melchior (taking on the role originally played by Kelly Lynch), and Billy Magnussen (channeling Ben Gazzara from the original). Adding to the authenticity, actual UFC fighter Conor McGregor is also part of the ensemble.

English Trailer:

Directed by Doug Liman, known for his expertise in action films such as "The Bourne Identity" and "Edge of Tomorrow," the movie is brought to life through Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry’s script. Notably, Bagarozzi and Mondry frequently collaborate with Shane Black, and they have jointly worked on Black's upcoming project "Play Dirty," also produced for Amazon/MGM. This promises an exciting blend of skilled direction, a talented cast, and a revitalized storyline for fans of the classic "Road House" to enjoy.

The recently unveiled trailer lives up to the expectations set by the original "Road House," capturing the essence that made it a classic. The shift in setting to Florida appears to be a fitting choice, providing a unique perspective compared to the original's Missouri backdrop.

Excitement surrounds the upcoming premiere of "Road House" at the SXSW Film Festival in March. However, controversy has emerged as director Doug Liman has declared his decision not to attend the screening. His protest stems from dissatisfaction with Amazon MGM Studios' choice to forgo a theatrical release for the film. Liman, expressing his concerns, believes that Jake Gyllenhaal's performance is deserving of a Best Actor Oscar nomination.

Liman emphasizes that his intention was to silently protest Amazon's decision to stream a movie that he believes is crafted for the grandeur of the big screen. He contends that Amazon's actions not only affect him and his film but also have broader implications. Liman expresses his stance, stating, "If I don't speak up about Amazon, who will?" He asserts the film's excellence, claiming it to be possibly his best work. Despite positive test results and Liman's appeals to Amazon for a theatrical release or the option to sell to another distributor, the movie is set to be exclusively available on streaming platforms.

"Road House" is scheduled to be available on Prime Video starting March 21.
