Ricky Stanicky Trailer

In the upcoming comedy "Ricky Stanicky," set to premiere on Prime Video on March 7, the storyline revolves around the central conflict explained by characters JT (played by Andrew Santino) and Dean (played by Zac Efron) in the newly released trailer. The film follows the escapades of three close friends who create an imaginary fourth companion named "Ricky Stanicky" to serve as a scapegoat for their mistakes and a convenient excuse to evade responsibilities. This fictional friend proves to be a successful ruse for a remarkable 25 years until a critical moment arises. When JT's baby is born prematurely, the trio's elaborate scheme faces its ultimate test, especially since they are supposedly "visiting Ricky in the hospital" while enjoying themselves in Atlantic City.

A pivotal moment unfolds when a woman, likely JT's mother or mother-in-law, confronts the group, demanding an explanation for their whereabouts. In a desperate attempt to maintain the facade of Ricky Stanicky, the trio resorts to hiring Atlantic City entertainer "Rock Hard" Rod, played by John Cena. Described as an "X-rated rock and roll impersonator" by Wes (Jermaine Fowler), Rod's unconventional behavior disrupts the group's lives. He inadvertently embarrasses Dean's boss, Ted (William H. Macy), with awkward compliments about his "seedlings" (hair plugs). Surprisingly, Ted is impressed by Stanicky's audacity and hires him, unknowingly complicating the group's deception.

The trailer provides glimpses of the absurd chaos caused by Ricky, including mishaps at a bowling alley, a house fire, a physical altercation with Dean, and, most peculiarly, a successful circumcision.

This film marks Peter Farrelly's return to comedic filmmaking after winning two Oscars for Green Book and collaborating with Efron on The Greatest Beer Run Ever. Before his venture into drama, Farrelly directed comedy classics like Dumb & Dumber and There's Something About Mary alongside his brother Bobby Farrelly.
