Veteran Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik has married Pakistani actor Sana Javed amid rumours of his divorce from Indian tennis legend Sania Mirza. Malik shared the update on Saturday through a social media post on X, formerly known as Twitter. The post comprises pictures from their wedding ceremony with the caption: "And we created you in pairs."

Speculations about Malik and Javed being in a relationship had circulated for some time. The former Pakistan captain added fuel to the rumors by extending birthday wishes to the actress last year, saying, "Happy Birthday Buddy," accompanied by a picture of the two.

At the age of 41, Shoaib Malik stood by Sana Javed when she faced criticism for supposedly displaying rude behavior towards juniors and makeup artists on set. In a tweet from March 2022, the former cricketer expressed his support, stating, "I have known Sana Javed for quite some time now and have had the opportunity to work with her multiple times. From my personal experience, I can only say that she has always been kind and courteous towards me and the people around us."

Shoaib Malik's announcement of his wedding was unexpected for people on both sides of the border, especially considering the ongoing rumors about his divorce from Sania Mirza. The couple had initially tied the knot in Hyderabad in 2010 in a traditional Muslim ceremony, followed by a Walima ceremony in Sialkot, Pakistan. Together, Malik and Mirza are parents to a son named Izhaan, who was born in 2018.

Though the exact reasons for the strains in their relationship are unknown, it is believed that the issues arose around the first half of 2021. Judging from their social media activity, Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik used to be quite active on Instagram, frequently sharing pictures and stories featuring them together—exploring various places worldwide and enjoying moments on the beaches of Dubai with their child. However, their presence on social media gradually diminished over time. Reports surfaced last year about Sania and Shoaib collaborating for a TV show, which eventually materialized as "The Mirza Malik Show" presented by Spotify. In this show, the couple hosted numerous celebrities in episodes that spanned around 40 minutes each.

On Wednesday, Sania added fuel to the divorce speculations with Malik by sharing a cryptic post on her Instagram. The post conveyed a contemplative message, stating: "Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard. Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard. Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard. Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard. Life will never be easy. It will always be hard. But we can choose our hard. Pick wisely."

Has Shoaib Malik been married two times before?

Officially, Shoaib Malik is now on his second marriage. However, before tying the knot with Sania Mirza, Malik was rumored to have been previously married to Ayesha Siddiqui, although he denied this claim. The controversy surfaced during his wedding with Mirza, with allegations that Malik was already married. Ayesha, along with her family and sister Maha, brought the matter to national television. According to Malik, the entire episode involving Ayesha was merely a case of fraud.

Shoaib Malik and Ayesha first connected through phone calls in the early 2000s when Ayesha identified herself as a fan of Shoaib. As their conversations deepened, Malik admitted that they developed feelings for each other. However, whenever Malik expressed a desire to meet Ayesha, she would not be available. In 2002, when Malik traveled to Hyderabad to meet her, Ayesha claimed she had to urgently fly to Saudi Arabia. Three years later, just a day before Malik and his family were scheduled to meet Ayesha's family, they were informed that Ayesha had to relocate to the USA.

Ayesha had proposed a telephonic 'Nikah' to Shoaib Malik, but the cricketer declined and insisted on a formal ceremony with both families present. However, it later emerged that the person he had seen in photographs and the one he had been conversing with were two different individuals. Malik even sent a legal notice to Ayesha's father, MA Siddiqui, but the controversy did not stop there. Ayesha made serious allegations against Shoaib, claiming that they had an 'intimate relationship.' She also asserted that she experienced a pregnancy during their supposed 'marriage,' which unfortunately resulted in a miscarriage.
